Every good mystery has a decanter in it, ideally one shaped like a skull.
Dark glass bottles. A brass tray. Beaker wine glasses that look as though they've escaped from a Victorian laboratory. Fill the decanter with something deep red, or serve a spiced punch, and label the bottles if you're feeling mischievous.
It's theatre in a glass. And when the guests have gone, it's simply a lovely bar.
